Rihanna’s First Week Numbers are in. Talk that Talk didn’t talk.
Number 1, is a position that Rihanna has not, and will not ever see.
Rihanna’s current album “Talk that Talk” failed to speak on the charts, debuting at number 3 with 197,040 units moved in its first week.
For an artist with the popularity Rihanna has this is considered a flop.
Why is it that Rihanna is a household name, yet can’t sell household numbers?
The answer is simple. Nobody cares about Rihanna as a musician. People aren’t waiting desperately in the ambiance for a new Rihanna album, we just tolerate it because its here. There are two reasons why Rihanna is famous and those are Fashion and Chris Brown. Had Rihanna not been introduced to either, she would still be Ponning the Replay.
People, including her fans, seem to care more about the personal life of Rihanna and her shoes than her music. This theory is backed up by her constant Billboard sales disappointments.
Anyone can release hit singles. but it takes an ARTIST to sell albums.
